Burnsville,
MN The worlds largest supplier of liquid-carbon
dioxide cleaning machines, Cool Clean Technologies,
Inc. of Eagan, Minnesota, announced that they
have successfully obtained MEA Certification for their
CO2 Dry Cleaning machine.
An individual MEA (Materials, Equipment, and Acceptance)
number is required, as part of the New York City building
code, on certain equipment and appliances which become
a permanent part of a building. In order to obtain
an MEA number on their equipment, manufacturers must
adhere to rigorous electrical and mechanical standards.
For instance, dry cleaning machines must conform to
Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Standard 664 as certified
by an independent testing agency. Obtaining
an MEA number on our CO2 dry
cleaning systems is testament to the level of quality
and safety built into each of our machines,
says Dan Schiller, Chief Operating Officer of Cool
Clean Technologies. There is a very high level of
interest in this environmental dry-cleaning alternative
in New York City, and Cool Clean can now move forward
to satisfy this customer base. There are already several
installations underway, and many more planned.
Cool Clean
dry cleaning machines use pressurized liquid CO2
as a cleaning solvent, providing an effective, environmentally
safe cleaning process. The CO2
machine operates much like a traditional front- loading
dry cleaning machine, with a range of wash and extract
cycles, but without heat to set stains and wrinkles.
The solvent is natural, odor free and 98% of the CO2
is recovered at the end of the 35-40 minute cycle
and reused.
